Halloween Crown DIY

Have you ever wondered how to make a flower crown? Here's a brief tutorial that makes it simple-- just halloween style! Jump on and ask questions if you need, and I'll respond quick, but be sure to try one on your own!

INGREDIENTS

3 BLACK CALLA LILIES

LEUCADENDRON SAFARI SUNSET GREENS

5-10 CHOCOLATE COSMOS

21 GAGUE WIRE

BLACK RIBBON

FLORAL TAPE

HERE'S THE RUNDOWN:

1. Clip one piece of wire to fit 7/8 around head.

2. Poke a long piece of ribbon with each end of wire and tape with floral tape to secure. You will use it to secure the crown on your head.

3. Put one layer of greens on the wire by stretching floral tape around the stem connecting it to the wire.

4. Put your focal piece flowers (in this case, the calla lilies), on one side of the crown, securing with floral tape.

5. Secure your smaller flowers where you'd like the, with the same floral tape.

6. Put down one more layer of leaves (I prefer to lay them going only one direction, the same direction that your focal flowers face).

7. I then use two more pieces of wire and wrap around my tape, keeping it as inconspicous as possible.

8. Trime extra ends.

9. Tie it on!

I know you'll love this crown, and if you choose to use it for halloween, I'm sure it will work perfect with any costume you already have!

So... What Does This Lettering Workshop Entail?

I hosted my first ever lettering workshop this week, and LOVED everything about it. It was a blast to get to meet new people, watch them learn something new, and to throw caution to the wind. Lettering can be very vulnerable. Like your singing voice, I've found many people are hesitant, self conscious and uncomfortable sharing their own writing. But I hope everyone in the class understood that is what it takes to be successful. Using your own 'voice', (or handwriting), for you to come up with a result you will be proud of!

So what does this class entail then?

Well, first of snacks. Tons of snacks!

Second, your own kits and a table full of extra material to practice on.

You have to be willing to be bad at it to get good at it.

A huge thank you to everyone who came and made the workshop so great! I love building an awesome community and may have a lettering club in the works that you can come and grow this creative outlet even more.

Heather's Baby Shower

My cutie sister has my first blood niece on the way and I can't stand my excitement! We through her a small shower with some friends today, and it turned out so fun! My theme was just reds and pinks, I wanted to keep it simple and fun- like a baby shower should be, without only using baby pink.

I used tons of dead heads of dahlias to create a look that tied everything together, including my vases with flowers in them. They are in season and I get them from a great local woman here in Orem (if you need details, lmk).

I hope you enjoy all the colors, I was so happy and surprised I even pulled it off in time. Now I'm exhausted, so I'm retiring to my bed for a long time hopefully.
